Bike to Work Month is May. Biking is great for fitness as well as for biking to work. It is easy on the joints, and is a great way to burn off those calories and lose weight. You will also sleep like a baby at night. There is nothing like good old fashion exercise to help you sleep like a baby. You can kill two birds with one stone. Bike to work for transportation and for exercise.

Spent Almost 4 Hours Riding the Bike Yesterday

It was beautiful day yesterday, and I just rode the bike. It was so nice. I could feel certain groups of smaller leg muscles aching that I hadn't felt for quite a while. Boy did I have a good sleep yesterday.
I was doing some reading about electric bicycles yesterday They can be used for assisted pedalling and they can also be used as a primary source of power. The incredible thing about these bikes is the weight of the bike. With the batteries and the motor they can weigh more than 80 lbs.
I would still like to have an electric bike. It looks more like I would then have two bikes, the electric bike would be for longer journeys and the regular bike would be for local bike riding.
I had actually considered making an electric motor from scratch, but that doesn't look as feasible as I thought, I would need some sort of electrical training. I would probably buy an electric conversion kit, this would make a good winter project. I will be looking into doing this in the future.

Bike to Work Month is Half Over. Have You Been Enjoying Yourself

Bike to work month is now half finished. I have been riding my bike every opportunity that I can. This last winter was dreadful here in the north-east. I never got out once from January to March. Next winter I will be purchasing IRC Blizzard Studded Tire 26 so I will not feel so restricted. It will be nice to be able to ride in most any type of weather.

I have read articles about cyclists riding in Alaska during winter races. That would be utterly amazing. I have been riding the bike for two months so far this year, and it has been great. The upper leg muscles that bike riding works are now up to par, so I will be extending my bike rides.

May in the North East Has Been Fantastic For Biking.

I have been enjoying my biking this May. There has only been a couple of days where it has been ugly, but for the last week it has been great. I have seen more grownups rather than teenagers on bikes in the last few days. I am not sure why this is the case. I am sure that it is because adults are becoming more aware of the benefits of riding bikes for exercising.
My Nintendo Wii, is probably suffering from neglect. I haven't even done the Wii Fit for quite a while now - probably 10 days. I just enjoy being outdoors and riding. Since May is Bike to Work month, I feel that I should get out there and do my part to promote bike riding not only as a viable alternative to driving the car, but as a good sound form of exercise.
It always amazes me what a sound sleep I get after I ride the bike. It is probably because of all the fresh air and climbing those hills, it really gets my heart pounding.

It is Official, this is Bike to Work Month

While, I may not really bike to work because I work out of the home, I do use the bike to commute around the town. I use the bike to go to the mail, get some groceries, and more. I have also been looking at riding the bike in the winter. Did you know you could get Kenda Klondike Standard Studded Wire Bead Mountain Bicycle Tire - 26 x 2.1 - 2120373 for riding in the snow! This is great stuff! I will be able to ride my bike 12 months of the year. I am looking forward to it.

This week I will be out looking for some wood for my bike trailer. I have been setting up a small workshop so that I can work on my trailer. It should be a lot of fun.

Welcome to the Bike to Work Blog.

May 1st starts Bike to Work Week. While I do not work out of the home, I use my bicycle to do the mail, run errands, and for just plain exercise. I incorporate my bike riding into my exercise routine. You can visit my Losing Weight in 2009, to see how I am losing weight. This blog is primarily about my love of the bicycle. May makes me wish that I worked out of the home, so that I could ride my bike to work with all the other employees
The bicycle is a great way to get around and to also lose weight. I primarily use it for exercise, but I also use it transportation. I have to go to the mail, the store and other places, so I use the bicycle.

This summer I will be building a bike trailer so that I can be more independent and use the bike for hauling larger loads. I have found plans to build the bicycle trailer. If it works, I will let you know and put up the finished trailer on this website.

I did several articles for Associated Content about riding the bicycle to work during May. That is one of the reasons I started this blog in the first place.
